About Anja

I initially started to train as a physiotherapist back home in Germany before taking time out to come to London. I eventually stayed in England where I changed my career path and trained as a contemporary dancer at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating in 2004. I first encountered Pilates as an extra curricular activity during my dance training but found a love for it further on in my career whilst teaching and being a dance artist.

I completed the Pilates Foundation teacher training in matwork at The Place, London Contemporary Dance School with Hana Jones, Susanne Lahusen and Sonia Noonan in January 2008, and qualified as a Pregnancy and Postnatal Pilates teacher studying with specialist trainer Rachel Rafiefar, The Thoughtful Body in 2009. In December 2010, I graduated as a fully comprehensive Pilates Foundation teacher after completing the Studio Equipment Bridging course with Jessica Moolenaar at Trinity Laban.
I was Assistant Director and guest lecturer in Pregnancy and Postnatal Pilates on Jessica’s Pilates Foundation teacher training in matwork with Mindful Pilates in 2013/14.

I specialise in remedial Pilates and Women's Health.
Most recently I attended Carolyne Anthony's (The Centre for Women's Fitness) fantastic courses Support Your Floor, Pilates for Menopause Program and The Centre Method for Diastasis Recti Recovery.

My classes are explorative; deeply strengthening with a light hearted and relaxed approach. I apply the functional facial pathways in my teaching, exploring and connecting the body with its network of connective tissue.
