Bringing together their wide range of experience in Pilates, yoga, bodywork and movement, Foundation teachers Melanie Noble and Alan Widdowson are running a week's Pilates and Yoga retreat from August 28th to September 4th at beautiful In Sabina in Italy.
With its spectacular views and magical setting, In Sabina lies in the midst of the Italian countryside less than an hour from Rome. The property is peaceful, rustic and an ideal place to unwind and to practise pilates, yoga and meditation.
Covering many acres, the site includes terraces, shady lookouts, swimming pool, an indoor studio and a magnificent outdoor practice platform. Accommodation is in two beautifully restored 17th century stone buildings overlooking an undulating panorama of olive groves and fruit trees.
A vegetarian menu is served by an Italian gourmet chef, sourcing ingredients locally, many of which are grown in the vegetable garden at Insabina. There is plenty of good walking around the property, including to the nearby medieval Italian hilltop village of Torri In Sabina. Car hire is an option for those who want to explore further afield.
There will be two classes each day. A longer morning class in two sections will begin with a gentle stretch-based warm up, gradually building towards some of the more dynamic, classical repertoire. Afternoons are free. An early evening yoga class will be more exploratory and creative, based around Pilates principles.
Apart from swimming, reading and relaxation in various shady hammocks or by the pool, there are also opportunities for guided walks and for treatments. A massage therapist will be in residence and separate sessions can be booked on-site.
