About The Workshop
In the sedentary and tablet-based culture that we are now living in, helping our clients become more aware of their daily posture is becoming ever more important. The Pilates Method was often criticised in the past for not containing enough lumbar extension exercises - our changing lifestyles now requires us to now also include more thoracic extension in our classes.
In this workshop, we will be looking at various ways to mobilise specific areas of the body - particularly the neck, shoulder girdle and thoracic spine to alleviate tension in the shoulders and back. We will discuss ways of introducing our clients to spinal extension and experience the profound affect the position of the head can have on efficient use of the abdominal wall and spinal extensors for optimum muscle balance and improved posture. We will explore some specific exercises and how to modify them for individual needs and abilities.

The influence of Hana Jones in the Pilates world is huge, not just because she has been integral in the training of many teachers in this country and abroad, but also because her work resonates with so many of us today. Her teaching always comes from the same place, deeply rooted in the fundamentals of the Pilates Method and out of her 35 years of experience teaching this work.
Hana has the gift of bringing about changes in the body on many levels in the simplest way; feeling by looking and listening, through her touch and with carefully chosen words. It’s not just about the choreography of the exercises but more about the principles that underpin the exercises and the application of those principles. Some of the smallest changes and adjustments made in class create a massive shift in the body and mind-set. Her work leaves you with a renewed energy, a commitment to further personal and professional development and an enhanced confidence in your teaching.
