About The Workshop

Taiji Shibashi Qigong is based on the movements and philosophy of Tai Chi. The Shibashi Series were created by Qigong Master Professor Lin Hou Sheng and Tai Chi Master He Weiqi between 1979 and 1990. The soothing rocking movements and gentle stretching of the 18 exercises form a beautiful, flowing and gentle Qigong routine that are a delight to do and extremely relaxing.

The overall effect of synchronising the 18 movements with proper breathing techniques is to reduce mental and physical stress and improve the general health and wellbeing of the practitioner. Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi is very effective, easy to learn and is practiced by over 10 million people worldwide.

Regular practice may improve general health and wellbeing, aid the circulation and digestion and help to release tension held in the muscles of the body.

The upper body exercises and controlled breathing are good for improving lung problems and asthma. The movements of the lower body help to develop strength and mobility in the hips and knees whilst improving circulation of blood and fluids via muscular contractions.

The exercises are easy to learn and are a perfect partner for Pilates, much of the basic theory is similar, simply expressed in a different language.
