About Leila

Leila founded Bodywise Pilates in 2007, and she is very proud of her studio and its team of superb teachers. Leila comes from a contemporary dance background, and had previously taught Pilates in numerous gyms and health clubs in London, before moving to Wiltshire in 2006.

Leila loves working with people from all walks of life, but her greatest satisfaction comes from rehabilitation work, and from teaching high-level clients and Pilates teachers. Leila is an accredited Pilates Foundation Matwork Teacher-Training Provider (both Matwork and Equipment) and she is passionate about maintaining the high standards promoted by the Pilates Foundation within Bodywise Pilates Studio.

Leila undertook her Pilates Foundation Bridging (equipment) Training in 2009 - 2010 at The Scott Studio, Somerset (under the tuition of Suzanne Scott and Liz Ellis). Leila did her Pilates Foundation Matwork Teacher Training in 2005 at The Place, London (under the tuition of Susanne Lahusen, Hana Jones, and Sonia Noonan). Previously, Leila trained / worked as a massage therapist, and she originally trained as a contemporary dancer, at London Contemporary Dance School (BA in 1998 / MA in 2000). Whilst respecting the classical roots of the Pilates Method, Leila's dynamic teaching style incorporates elements from many different movement techniques, including dance, yoga, sport, bio-mechanics / functional movement, massage, Feldenkrais and release-work.
