Sarah Doherty was first introduced to the Pilates method in 1997 whilst studying at Laban, graduating in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre. This initial training introduced the concepts of developmental movement and reflexes through Laban and Bartenieff Fundamentals and lit the fire for Sarah’s further studies into “how the body moves”.
She qualified to teach Matwork from the first Pilates Foundation matwork course at The Place in 2001, and completed her Bridging training in 2003 with Anne-Marie Zulkahari and Hana Jones, both of whom continue to be a strong influence in both her personal and professional practice.
Sarah has a small teaching studio in Suffolk and is also a course director of Pilates Movement Training’s (PYMT) accredited Teacher Training course. She is an Examiner for the Pilates Foundation.
Alongside her teaching, Sarah incorporates her studies in reflex development and integration through the RMT method (Rhythmic Movement Training) and is currently furthering her study in Chinese Medicine, herbalism and Elemental Chi Kung practices.
