About The Workshop
Join Shanti for a 60 minute class with a focus on the upper limb - to reduce tension and improve function.
"Since Lockdown I have developed some classes for clients who have particular injuries or issues which prevent them from doing some of the Classical repertoire. These classes have been labelled by the club where I teach as “Clinical Classes”. They usually consists of a combination of remedial work for both the UPPER LIMB and the LOWER LIMB. My teaching has been influenced by work I have done on my own body often inspired by work I have learned through my mentors. The UPPER LIMB classes have developed through influence from private sessions I did with Amit Younger during lockdown while my LOWER LIMB classes developed from work I did with both Alan Herdman and Trevor Blount while recovering from a tibial plateau fracture after a skiing accident in 2017.
Clients have found the Clinical Classes really beneficial and asked if I would run specific classes focusing on one of these two areas. In all my classes we work on the whole body but there is a specific focus on the clients needs. By addressing issues in the upper thoracic region, opening the chest and improving postural alignment, some of the weaker clients have been able to move freely into movements such as PLANK to DOWNWARD FACING DOG as well as SIDE PLANK and variations. Some clients are just happy to have an increase range of pain free movement in their upper limbs including strengthening their wrists."
Benefits
- Increased pain free ROM and improved posture.
Improved technique to progress clients towards load bearing work such as leg front pull and side plank variations.
