Teaching Classical Pilates to individuals with postural and/or structural asymmetries, whether caused by poor posture, injury, chronic conditions, or scoliosis can be difficult and confusing! Jillian herself lives with a Double S-Curve Scoliosis, so she is an expert in devising an individualized approach for each client, starting with a complete postural and movement analysis. She then focuses on creating modified versions of Classic Pilates exercises and the use of props and imagery, both on and off the various Pilates apparatus. Great for individuals with postural and/or structural asymmetries, whether caused by poor posture or repetitive motion activities, adaptations to injury, chronic conditions, or scoliosis. Train your eyes and your hands in how to best guide your clients to obtain optimal alignment throughout their Pilates workout!

& Mat-Based Exercises in a group setting

2.00PM - 5.00PM Apparatus Based Exercises For Asymmetrical Bodies
(Reformer/Tower)- This will be an observe and learn session rather than a practical one. Suitable also for mat-trained only teachers

EQUIPMENT REQUESTS:
1- Each Attendee should bring their own mat and elastic stretch band for the AM session-we will definitely have a short mat class for everyone to have the opportunity to move!
2- If they’d like to model, attendees should plan to wear form fitting clothing and/or be prepared to strip down to a sports bra (Women) or bare chest (Men) if we are to examine your spine :-)
PRESENTER BIO:
Jillian Hessel has taught Pilates since 1981. A “Hybrid of the Masters,” she studied with First Generation Teachers including Kathy Grant, Carola Trier, Ron Fletcher and attended classes with Eve Gentry, Romana Kryzanowa, Lolita San Miguel and Mary Bowen. A retired ballet dancer, she worked with George Balanchine and trained with Martha Graham. Her Iyengar Yoga practice inspires the individualized adjustments she brings to Pilates. She is known for her crystal clear imagery, eagle eye, concise instruction and calm but encouraging demeanor.
