About This Class
Fascia is often approached through its structural and load-transferring qualities, yet it is also richly innervated and deeply involved in our sensory experience of movement. What changes when we begin to consider fascia not simply as architectural structure, but as part of how movement is perceived and organised?
ln this two-hour experiential workshop, Ana Barretxeguren will explore the sensory nature of fascia through a blend of contemporary fascial anatomy, embodied exploration and guided movement practice.
We will consider fascia in relation to proprioception and interoception, and explore how sensory information contributes to the ways we perceive, organise and adapt through movement. Rather than approaching this only as theoretical knowledge, participants will investigate these ideas through their own experience of breath, weight, contact, support and movement. Drawing on principies from the Moving Fascia® Method, the Moving Fascia balls will be used as adaptable sensory tools, offering changing qualities of contact and support through which to explore perception and movement. The workshop will offer Pilates teachers both a deeper understanding of fascia as a sensory and relational system and practical principles that can inform their own movement practice, pattern observation and teaching.
EQUIPMENT REQUESTS FOR CLASS PARTICIPANTS:
Participants will need a mat and comfortable space to move
We will be working with the Moving Fascia® balls during the experiential practice. If you do not have Moving Fascia balls, other soft, air-filled balls of approximately 9 cm and 15 cm diameter can be used as alternatives.
